Steel Spiral Bevel Gears Spiral Tooth System Ratio 2:1 – 2.5:1

Steel spiral with a spiral tooth system and ratios between 2:1 and 2.5:1 are conical gears designed to transmit power between intersecting shafts, typically at a 90-degree angle. The spiral tooth design, characterized by curved, angled teeth, ensures smoother and quieter operation compared to straight bevel gears, reducing noise and impact stress at high speeds. These gears are typically made from carbon or alloy steels like 42CrMo4 or 16MnCr5, with teeth often induction- or case-hardened for durability, while hubs and bores remain soft. They are ideal for applications requiring precise torque and speed changes, such as in locomotives, marine systems, or industrial machinery.
