PTO Driven Trencher

A double chain tractor power take-off (PTO) driven trencher is a specialized machine used for digging ditches or trenches. It is commonly employed in construction, landscaping, and agricultural applications where the creation of trenches is necessary for various purposes, such as installing utility lines, irrigation systems, drainage systems, or burying cables.

The trencher is typically attached to a tractor, which provides the power and mobility required to operate the machine. The tractor’s PTO transfers power to the trencher’s drivetrain. The drivetrain of the trencher includes a power take-off (PTO) shaft, gearbox, and other mechanisms that transfer power from the tractor to the cutting system.

The cutting system is the primary component responsible for digging the trench. It typically consists of two chains equipped with digging teeth or blades. These chains are connected by a series of metal plates that form a continuous loop. As the chains rotate, the teeth or blades cut into the ground, removing soil and creating the trench. Most trenchers have mechanisms to control the depth of the trench. This can be achieved by adjusting the angle or position of the cutting system, allowing operators to dig trenches of varying depths according to their requirements.
